Prismatism - Capricorn and the Wicked Circus
The Devil and his Interval
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Satan is, plainly put Saturn. The origin of most of what we consider ‘evil’ in this society can be traced to Saturn and its influence.
Often, the archetype of Capricorn will actively point out the sick underbelly of society, demonstrating a ‘Wicked Circus’ lying just underneath societies veneer. The Cancer-Capricorn axis, sometimes referred to as the Axis of Evil by your author, often together have a sardonic disdain for society or for the human race, and it manifests often into malevolent depictions, drug-fueled pagan jaunts, or Halloween-time gross-out horror imagery. The word Pagan, remember, is from paganus ‘villager, rustic’, from pagus ‘country district’, in other words, pagans were just the hinterland rednecks of the Roman Empire.
Take for instance Capricorn Marilyn Manson.
Now compare that to Capricorn Rob Zombie and his band White Zombie.
And again compare to Capricorn Howard Stern’s OnDemand TV Intro:
Capricorn Harmony Korine’s oeuvre is mostly grotesque realism, a hallmark of Capricorn. His movie Gummo features a drunk flirting with a gay dwarf, a boy pimping out his down syndrome afflicted sister, and attempted pedophilia. Chloe Sevingy, herself a Capricorn Moon (with almost everything else in Scorpio!), is featured prominently in his work:
Overall this is what Capricorn does: point out the disturbing and depraved qualities of dry, horrific existence.
Capricorn John Carpenter has done this many times over, maybe most notably in Halloween, one of the original ‘slasher’ films, wherein a boy stabs his sister to death then subsequently dons a mask and goes on an anonymous killing spree:
Saturn is a heavy, serious planetary energy and that is usually reflected in the austere, stoney appearance and behavior of withdrawn, passive Capricorn and its anti-normie artifice. Saturn and Capricorn rule old age, and that kind of scary salty wickedness is apparent in Capricorn throughout their lives.
An incredible number of serial killers are Capricorns; Kiyoshi Ōkubo, Terry Peder Rasmussen, Charles Ng, John Allen Muhammad, Israel Keyes, Niels Högel, Juana Barraza, Randall Woodfield, Marcel Petiot and Harold Shipman to name a few.
Capricorn’s relationship to Saturn/Satan is monolithic and a trait of the Earth element (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) in general. It is as if to imply that Earth itself is the realm of Satan. In tarot, the suit of coins (or pentacles) represents Earth energy. Coins or Pentacles always represent labors and efforts, and their material rewards. On the whole, Earth signs are hard workers, and their rewards in terms of material success often reflect the moral ills of the society from which they pinched the coins. You could definitely look at Ebeneezer Scrooge as a Capricorn archetype. The world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, is a Capricorn.
As we see in the charts of the two founding members of Metallica, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, Capricorn and Heavy metal are very connected.
James Hetfield’s chart shows a rising (perception of the world) and Moon (interior self and emotions) in Capricorn. Lars Ulrich, alternately, is a Capricorn Sun. People often seek life partners that are their relative moon-to-sun.
Together this twosome constitute assumedly the most popular manifestation of Saturnine music, fully equipped with flat fifths, or the relation to the chords E and Bflat, long considered an ‘evil’ interval by the Catholic church (along with the perennial motif of being ‘crazy’ like Sanitarium or ‘evil’ like Am I Evil). James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich cite Lemmy Kilmister, a Capricorn, as their primary influence and hero.
You can hear that interval constitute MANY Metallica songs, and I will use this example as very clear cut:
If anyone is more synonymous with metal music, it’d be Ozzy Osbourne. When we look at Ozzy’s chart, we see another Capricorn moon, along with Mars (masculine energy) and Jupiter (dispositer of growth and luck) in Capricorn.
Now listen to the prominent flat fifth that constitutes the first song on the first album of Ozzy’s band Black Sabbath:
When Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin became a singer in the Black Metal band Mayhem, he changed his name to Dead. Ohlin was a DOUBLE Capricorn before he invented the very Saturnine genre of Black Metal, then killed himself at only 22.
Listen to Mayhem and hear the same flat fifth and distorted, grim sound wrought through a suicidal Scandinavian lens.
When we look at the birth chart of Adolf Hitler, we see a Capricorn moon. The swastika itself is a Saturnine symbol. Perhaps the same cruel, wicked forces are subdued in metal music that brought him to a brutal and godless dictatorship:
Tim Burton, who made a film career out of the ‘Halloween-y Creepy Outsider’ niche, is a Capricorn Moon (and double Earth):
Mike Patton is a Capricorn Moon, and his project Fantomas combines speed metal and film music, often with horror-themed results:
Capricorn Moon Christina Ricci is perhaps best known for portraying the grim Addams daughter Wednesday Addams in the Addams Family:
Chris Barnes, founding singer of original Death Metal band Cannibal Corpse, represents some of the most extreme of the genre, naming songs things like “I Cum Blood” “Hammer Smashed Face” and “Edible Autopsy” of course. He is a Capricorn Sun.
Bjork’s stalker, Ricardo Lopez, was a Capricorn:
Similarly, if you were a Capricorn Sun named Jonathan Davis you might name your band “Korn” (after kiddie porn) and call your detuned, nu metal ‘sickness’ songs things like “Clown”:
Overall Capricorn illustrates the wickedness in the heath of the hinterland, the pagan energy of darkness and restraint between the gypsy fire of Sagittarius and the technological renaissance of Aquarius.
